Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
