Military Attacks on Gaza Reportedly Kill at Least 12, One of Highest Tolls Following Fall Ceasefire Deal

Medical facilities in the territory reported that Israeli strikes killed at least 12 Palestinians on the weekend, marking one of the deadliest incidents following a fall truce deal designed to halting the fighting.

Particulars from the Strikes

The missiles hit locations in northern and southern Gaza, such as an apartment building in Gaza City and a shelter in Khan Younis, according to medical authorities that received the victims. The casualties included several women and minors from two families.

Israeli planes carried out additional attacks, while the army issued an evacuation warning for a structure in Khan Younis, ahead of an attack.

Mounting Toll Amid Truce Process

The strikes came a day before a border crossing is expected to open in Gaza’s south, a reminder that the fatalities is continuing to climb even as a ceasefire agreement inches forward.

All of the territory’s border crossings have been closed since the onset of the war, and residents view the Rafah crossing with Egypt as a lifeline for the many thousands in need of treatment outside the territory as most of its medical infrastructure has been devastated by aerial assaults.

Authorities aim to guarantee that more Palestinians leave Gaza than enter it, according to reports, which said the goal is to allow only a limited number into Gaza through Rafah daily.

Hospital Accounts

One major medical center reported an Israel’s strike on Gaza City killed a mother, three children and one of their family members on Saturday morning. Separately, a hospital in Khan Younis stated a strike in a makeshift settlement caused a blaze, claiming seven, including a man, his three children and three grandchildren.

Gaza’s health ministry have documented more than 500 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since the beginning of the ceasefire on a date in October.

Israel’s military did not immediately respond to inquiries about the incidents.

Truce Agreement and Future Plans

In spite of repeated lethal incidents involving Palestinians breaching the autumn truce, the deal has moved to a pivotal second phase. Some of the thorniest issues are part of this phase, which would require the governing authority to disarm and transfer control to a proposed Board of Peace organisation.

A recently outlined vision presented a plan for “rebuilding the territory”, featuring modern towers and corniches overlooking the Mediterranean.

Context of Destruction

Most of Gaza has been levelled and basic infrastructure remains non-functional as a result of Israeli bombing over the recent period, which has also killed more than 70,000 Palestinians. Previously, a UN commission of inquiry found that actions amounted to a genocide in Gaza.
